Viral Speak 09-13-2001
Today is a two part Viral
Speak. The first part in Blue is a
collection of comments on the recent tragedy that happened on September
11, 2001.
A Glimpse on the matter. (There are
comments on a few of the comments.)
Philip, I frankly don't know what I have
to say about this malicious attack. I'm shocked right now, but I know this,
I'm glad I am alive, and I'm glad that my father who was in the air on
his way to New York, when this happened landed safely in Chicago, rented
a car,and has arrived back here in Charlotte, God was truly generous to
me that day. Unfortunatly on September 11 2001, Many people's husbands,
wives, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children and close friends,
did not safely arrive back at their homes, never has there been such a
tragic event in my entire lifetime. I would like to take this time to honor
those brave firemen and police who gave so much, and remember those who
have lost so much. But we musn't forget the reality of this, some of those
lost could have even been a reader of DMGICE folks, this stuff seems so
unreal, until it hits us so close to home. If anyone who is reading this
has lost someone dear to them, I would like to let you know I am praying
for you and those you have lost, and hope that this will in some why help
to comfort you in this tragic time... - CraigD
My assistant manager just moved down from New
York to Miami about two months ago. He was in bad shape yesterday when
I saw him. I can only hope everyone who holds dear is doing alright and
is safe. God speed. - Salohcin Geen
Tuesday, September 11, 2001 will go down as a
day that America had it's hardest blow. These people...who call themselves
'Terrorests' (I think I spelled 'Terrorests' wrong. Sorry.) killed innocent
people. Theses terrorests are cold, gutless. May the souls of the victims
rest in peace...they have my prayers. - Mankind
I have a friend, a security officer in New York,
who witnessed one of the planes coming down. I have a cousin pretty close
to Flushing, plus a ton of other friends in that area. I have another cousin
in D.C. Keep all involved in your prayers (except the terrorists), especially
the heros/passengers of United Airlines 93, who rushed the hijackers and
crashed the plane safely away from the intended target. - The Cow
(Philip: Those people on UA 93 saved so many more people by what
they did. I wish they were alive today so we could thank them.)
Hi guys, you probably know me if you've been
on the site for a while. My brother is in Pittsburgh right now, and
has been since before the attacks. He's alright, but he can't get
back to Canada right now, which is frightening in and of itself.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families, survivors, and
the entire world for the events that have transpired these last days. -
Infinity_Yak
From my fathers workplace in Newark, he watched
as the south bulding collapsed. The rest of the day there were many F15's
and Medivac helicoptors flying overhead along with Police armed with AK
automatic rifles protecting the local water company. School was insane,
because we live in the suburbs about 10 minutes from NYC there are TONS
of parents who work in the city. Tons of hysterical kids, parents and teachers.
I escaped what would be a long day of anxiety by just leaving and watching
everything from my own home. I kept in touch with all my friends to make
sure their parents were ok. The whole ordeal is totally overwhelming and
the many kids who weren't at school today is not a good sign. - fonebone
Yesterday (Tuesday) was an atrocity and I offer
my utmost condolences to all those who were involved. Seeing a barrage
of people trooping across the Brooklyn Bridge, dialing cell phones and
pay phones in hope of reaching loved ones, covered in ash from the collapsed
building, all shrouded by the cloud of black smoke that loomed overhead
and bits of soot falling from the sky like snow. It was one of the
most horrific sites I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing.
I only hope that all those involved with plotting this treacherous event
are dealt with accordingly and New York can get itself back onto its feet
again as soon as possible. To all those who got the city in working
order, transit, police, doctors, nurses, blood donors, and everyone who
went to work over the past few days I am truly honored to share this city
with you.
It may be strange to look at the New York skyline
and see two of its most recognizable buildings gone, but the true horror
is that it is a constant reminder to us all the horrific tragedy of September
11, 2001. God bless all those involved and my deepest reguards to
all those who have lost their loved ones. - Altarboy
I'm from Buffalo, and quite a lot of people here
were (rightfully) freaking out due to the huge hydro plant nearby at Niagara
Falls. Can't blame 'em for believing that could be next. Anyway, my aunt's
business's office was up on the 86th floor in one of the towers. Thankfully
she wasn't there, being three or four blocks away at the time. This whole
thing...one big freakin' nightmare... - BigDumbStarseed
I really don't know what to say about this tragedy...
I'm just going to quote Charles Colson a couple times from his daily broadcast:
"I cannot describe how I felt when I heard the
news of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
We are partly and appropriately struck
silent with the enormous loss of life in the
collapse of the Twin Towers, the explosion at the Pentagon, and the highjacked
airliners that were crashed. If your loved ones perished yesterday as a
result of these acts, please know that you have my deepest sympathy, and
our heart-felt prayers go out to all involved. As the Bible says, "when
one suffers, we all suffer" [I Corinthians 12:26]......."
"I am sure that President Bush is weighing right
now all the intelligence available to him to find out who is responsible,
if any governments are involved, and how quickly the U.S. can retaliate.
I have confidence in the President and Secretaries Rumsfeld and Powell.
They and those who serve with them are competent leaders who find themselves
in a time of tremendous crisis. I urge you to pray with me, for those who
grieve and for our enemies, but especially for our leaders as they fulfill
their awesome responsibility in this dark hour. May God help us."
Amen to that. I just want to tell everyone to
put out an American flag today, for those who did not survive September
11, and for the surviving spirit of America. Pray for all who are
affected by this tragedy. And God bless America. - CodeBlue
You know what's ironic? Parent groups all over
are telling people that Video Games are the cause of most violent acts,
and if you don't want your kids to be violent you should turn to religion.
Except the irony is, religion was the cause of yesterday's tragedy. Maybe
we need to stop nitpicking about little things and concentrate on the important
stuff. Lieberman and Tipper were too busy campaigning about violence in
the media when we have terrorist groups in foreign countries plotting our
demise. I think once people fully realize the consequences of yesterday's
tragedy, schoool violence will drop. I don't know why, but I have a hunch.
That's all. - Globe Flower
(Philip: I hope a lot of people realize how horrible violence really
is. EA's conspiracy, "real-life" game Majestic was postponed indefinately
because of this event.)
Even though I don't know of any people
that were lost on Monday I still do feel for the families and friends of
those that did. Sure, at first I was scared, what parent wouldn't be, especially
a parent of a young child, but I know that for the ones that have survived
life goes on and yes, we should strive ahead and rebuild what was destroyed.
Please don't get me wrong, but it was probably good that something like
that happened because it brought us together, and not just in America,
but I heard that other countries also helped us in the mouring process
and sought out ways in which they can help us as well, like France.
Yes, seeing that fotage shown over and
over again was horrible, but the news does have a way of making something
terrible and doubling just how bad things are. I know what happened was
really bad, but you also have to understand that that is just their job.
They need to make a story interesting so that we would watch and sometimes
they use fear to keep us gluded to our sets.
Monday morning I set up a web page, which is also
going to be placed on my 'rants' section of my web site. That page was
designed as a memorial to those lives lost and to the ones that survived
them. If you wish to go there and offer up a prayer or just reflex on some
things that I mention there, then the url is:
http://www.angelfire.com/goth/ladyrend/index.html
Also, talk to I?Neo, I believe he told me that
he was going to be taking part of what I wrote on that page and translating
it to Spanish for his site.
Also, if you wish to e-mail me for any reason,
whether it be for a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to or anything,
then e-mail me at: Lady_Rend@hotmail.com
(my darkcastle e-mail is acting buggy right now). - Lady Rend
I don't know anybody involved in the incident,
but I want to offer my condolences not only to the victims and their families,
but also to any Muslims and people from Islamic countries living in America.
People have become short-sighted and are convinced that everybody who isn't
a white American is against them, and that just sickens me. Those of different
ethnic backgrounds, while they may be perfectly peaceful, are going to
have to put up with poor treatment for years to come. They are victims
too.
In other news, I salute President Bush for his
actions during the crisis. Yesterday, while he made short statements
about the incident, all my classmates blasted him for being an idiot just
as they did to my prefered candidate, Gore, this time last year.
I, however, thought that he did just what he should. Many people
both on and offline were saying he needed to make a speech immediately,
which he didn't need to do - he needed to make sure that there would still
be people around when he was ready to speak, and that's just what he's
did.
I have this sinking feeling that Liberman, McCain,
or some other power-hungry politician will bring up the unfortunate timing
of the release of Advance Wars when they need the votes for reelection.
I'm still getting it this afternoon - happy! - Jethro McB
(Philip: I'm also very proud of how President Bush handled the crisis
as well.)
My brother has 2 friends in the army that were
probably on one of those 5 battleships sent out all along the east coast
yesterday. My bro talked to one by phone and he said he wants Arab blood.
He could be called into action at any time. All he was thinking about was
avenging our lost and killing those responsible.
Good. I hope he kills a thousand of em out there.
- Phantom
(Philip: I wonder though.. if killing will stop the killing it seems
like circular reasoning to me.)
my father works for Morgan Stanley, a lot people
he does business with over the phone nearly every day are under the rubble
of the World Trade Center... All dead... he's still in shock, I don't think
its really hit him yet that these people he knwos are all gone, that he
won't be able to do business with them anymore....
this whole thing is very scary... It boggles my
mind how anyone can have so much hate inside of them.
PS: Who is this Kate Botello? why does she
rock? am I out of the loop, is this someone I should know?
Is she someone on tv? I don't watch enough tv... :-( And why
did you have to hide the message that this Kate Botello rocks? - Allison
Axe
(Philip: She is from Extended Play on Tech
TV. She's one of my favorite reporters on that channel.)
Yesterday ... 911
.. many people died ...
Me sad ... a good friend of mine died there ....
My friend,
Jose Carlos Soto M.
Rest In Peace
(1983-2001)
- Imakuni? Neo
(Philip: Sometimes.. I have a hard time figureing out if you are
joking or serious. I hope you are serious this time, otherwise.. I'll be
rather disappointed in you, Jimmy.)
Today (9-11-2001) 2 planes where hijacked
and flown in a kamakazi fashion into the twin World Trade Center Towers.
This is a disgusting act of terrorism. Simply deplorable. An unknown
number of people lost their lives, but any number is too many. I am a pacifist
in many instances, but I hope a severe and final retribution is enacted
against the people brazen enough to commit such a disgusting crime against
so many innocents. I'm angered and saddend by this, and my heart
goes out to the victims. - PoBob The (Un)Happy Monkey
I enjoyed your Daily Muk, about how if
Pokemon were real, they could have saved those people. Sadly, even if Pokemon
were real in our world, there would be a "Team Rocket" of sorts in our
world that would exploit Pokemon to do their own evil deeds. - Josh Nickerson
Philip: I know.. kind of sad, isn't it?
Did you notice? Everytime the people
on Gilligan's Island nearly got off, Gilligan ruined it. I think he should
have been dipped in a gravy train and fed to poodles. Or shot. Anyway,
you say Medarot may never reach US or Canadian stores. Yet Foxkids bought
rights to it and they show Medabot's every Saturdaty morning.I don't know
how but could you look into this? Damn. Japan get the best games.
P.S. - Never sniff dog dandruff. You'll
regret it. - Shingo
Philip: Hmm. I had no idea they were showing
that on Fox.. as I kind of don't watch it.. maybe this will increase the
likely-hood of our getting Medarot Advance in the US?
I like cheese. Cheese is good. Obey the
cheese. Cheese will save the world one day. Cheese will eat Philip one
day. Cheese. - Peppercat
Philip: For my sake.. I hope Cheese is some
hot girls nickname.
Don't forget about Lufia for GBC coming
out soon! It's gonna be awesome! - Shake
Philip: OH, HELL YEAH! Also Harvest Moon GBC
3. ^_^
Hey remember that Nemo Nint guy that
did your old splash page? What was his website?? - Aipom
Philip: Well, our favorite little indigo monkey!
It's http://www.geocities.com/nemonint/
and http://lhlives.gaban.com/
! YAY!
Well, one problem with the Linux is that
there aren't many drivers for it. Apparently, many companies don't
think it will ever become mainstream, and it's said it never will become
mainstream until drivers come out for it. Sort of like Windows 2000,
which had similar problems.
Anyway, I've actually been working on a sweet
Mac. It's a 7200 with a G4 upgrade card from Sonnet Technologies,
160 MB of RAM total, a Voodoo2 card, a USB/Firewire card from Sonnet, and
a 20 GB Firewire hard drive. It actually runs pretty well, and can
actually do Deus Ex without any problems, as far as I can see ^___^ - John
Philip: Nice! One thing I dislike about Linux
is that not all Linux programs work on Linux. The term too many cooks spoils
the pot perfectly applies.
I AM KING OF THE WORLD!!!!!!! - Mr. Mofo
the doggy FOO FOO!!!!
Philip: And you were decent in The Beach.
*drools* I love my MKSC cartridge...I
could play it all day. My current task is mastering Rainbow Road. (The
normal one, not the messed up one in the extra special cup) I like using
the little off-track speed boost string, but I always go flying off into
space when I reach the end! And if I have B on the whole time I don't get
as much speed and I come out way too slow! But I know what to do now...he
he he. use those bumpers to my advantage.
*cough* FOY IS FLIGHT....Excuse me!
WTF! *slaps himself for using such language* I
passed EB today and they had Xboxes and Xbox games out on display! WHAT'S
A-GOIN ON HERE?
COWBOY BEBOP FOREVER! MWA! - Phantom
Philip: The best way to get ahead in life
is to bump often and bump strategically. I recommend you learn on how to
bump correctly for the best results. Also be careful where you bump. Or
you'll lose more then just coins. I personally love bumping. I suggest
bumping to anyone. Provided they have the proper devices to bump with.
I remember when I first bumped. When you start bumping, you're not too
good at it; but the more you bump, the better you get! So, bump like a
bumping machine, you young bumper!
I was reading:
www.dmgice.com/vs/01112001.html
and came across a quote toward the bottom where
you say how Linux is "essientally a windows rip off"
Without getting fanatical and going insane, you
are so incredibly wrong it's not even funny.
Linux is a opensource clone of Unix. If it's anything
its a "rip off" of its Unix. Certainly not Windows. Windows is a piece
of shit operating system that runs (at least in the 9x incarnations) ontop
of DOS. DOS, for you're information, was loosely designed to be like UNIX
(though its MUCH MUCH simplier).
Linux is a kernel any screenshots you've seen
were of X, the Unix GUI which has been around for ages. It's certainly
not a rip off of Windows. If you saw something that looked similar to Windows
thats because with X you can have many types of desktop managers, window
managers and themes that some people have made to look somewhat like Windows.
But thats all comestic GUI crap done by some users. Linux is primarly used
from the commandline interface.
Comparing Linux to Windows is like comparing a
truck to a toy car, with windows being the toy car. Please get more educated
on the topic before you talk about it being a "rip off of windows" LOL!
It's not even CLOSE dude, and never will be. - Angry Linux User
Philip: Well, I was talking about Linux Mandrake
7.2's KDE/GNOME interface. Which looks too much like Windows for it's own
damn good and is just as bad.
Lady Rend, about your support channel
ban thing, the same type of thing happened to me once. They ban by
IP address, which, if you have dial-up and a previously banned person has
the same dial-up service as you, can be switched up randomly. Every
time you go online, you are assigned a new (and usually recycled) IP address,
so there's a chance that it can be the same as the one used by a banned
person. Just sign on again. - superguy3000
Philip: Dial-up is indeed the epitome of suckage.
Take for example: i-Land in my area.. not only sucks, but does this slight
pressure thing with it's teeth that is really unpleasent. At least they
swallow.
At a Thai mall today I saw a little booth
of video games. There were also little pokemon figures. I rifled through,
and found something wonderful. I picked it up, held it high, and screamed
"FOY!". People stared at me and I happily went away after i paid for a
foy pencil topper. - Matt Stefaniuk, Sadistic Monkey Extraordinaire!
Philip: Isn't Foy WONDERFUL.
(Foy is flight.)
the x-box is SUPER GaY!!!GAMEcube all

I'll stop singing now.
Hey Phil, listen to this quote:
"In life, as in breakfast cereal, it is always
best to read the instructions on the box."
See, I just don't get it. The mere understandment
of this is mindboggling. It just completely blew my mind. - booty
Philip: There's instructions? DAMN IT! MY
LIFE IS A LIE!
Glad to oblige :)! I need to sign
the guestbook, right? And fanfics are, well...FICULAR! That's
right, ficural! I have read so many stupid or poorly written fanfics
on pokemon, that a good one is like a treasure to me...i was so upset when
Pallet Gym was closed, that place was had very good pokemon fanfics.
Of course i always like DMG ice more than that site ^_^(). And the idea
of Ice Blue ice cream is cool. - clarynet
Philip makes up a song and sings it: I'm in
love with her ficular motion. Her body sways like a wave on the ocean.
Oh, yeah! Uhh! That be the splastic, YO!
Chimpin ain't easy!!!!! - Jodas
Philip: You know what they say about stealing
Monkies...
"RARRRRR! Komo Dun will cornhole you!"
Sorry, couldn't resist a cheap inside joke. -
NeoVid
Philip: Yes Mr. TooNEROtica. Sorry.. even
meaner inside joke. hehehe
We need more Viral Speak! Viral
Speak is crunchy and delicious and best served chilled. With a light
garnish of pickled broccholi its...well, its gross. But still edible.
BARELY... - PoBob The Happy Monkey
Philip: I'm delicious and best served chilled
too. ^_^
Update on my last VS post!
Well, I didn't really get an answer to my question
about why my account was blocked. All that was proved to me was just how
stupid b.net staff is, especially staff that's suppost to be working in
their tech support department. *sighs* Oh well. - Lady Rend
Philip: Yeah. HP has lousy support too. DAMN
YOU HEWLETT PACKARD! DAMN YOU TO HELL!
FOY....better than sex!!!! - Slim Shady
Evil Philip: Of course.. you wouldn't know.
............... - Silent Bob
Philip: Amen.
Snootch to the noonch. - Jay
Philip: I should call up Erin Calton and be
like.. "What's up, Boo Boo Kitty F***!" Bet her parents would LOVE that.
Philip... I just read an article about
schools banning dodgeball. This disturbs me... even moreso is the fact
that I was joking about banning dodgeball about a year ago... ah well...
a world where nobody can win or lose... seems like socialism to me... -
ME_
Philip: I say we attack them with the fury
of our balls! Damn Ball Nazis!
Reserving my cube this weekend! But unlike
all of you, I'm not getting Luigi or Wave race, oh no, I am different.
I am getting the KICKASS looking Super Monkey Ball! MONKEYS! How can you
lose? I want Pikmin real bad too, too bad you and I will be the only ones
buying it, eh Philip? - Admiral Tailz
Philip: GLORY OF THE PIKMIN! Damn shame too.
I mean, Pikmin rules.

LOVE HINA IS COMING! YAY! - CX (Oh, Naru...
Your precious visage I shall soon see...)
Philip: I love that series. My favorite character
is Shinobu. My little sister like Su. My little sister says I look like
Keitaro. If Bandai ediits.. well.. I swear I'll go to their booth next
year and yell loud obscenities at them.
Last month was the "one month anniversary"
of me asking my girlfriend to date me. We went out to dinner and
a movie (of course I paid). She bought me some NICE American Eagle
clothes. Wow. She spent more on me than I'd ever spend on myself
in the clothing department. Meanwhile, I pull out some bubble bath
from Bath and Body Works (although it was her favorite scent). I
looked lame, but she loves me, so she didn't care.
Well you know what? This month I bought
her a FUSCHIA GAME BOY ADVANCE and a copy of Mario Kart Super Circuit!!
Am I cool or what? She's been playing mine all the time, now she
has her own, and we can LINK PLAY!! Woo hoo! I can't wait to give
it to her (on the 17th).
How will I top this next month? Argh.
But does it matter? I have a girlfriend who is going to be playing
Game Boy Advance all the time (hopefully). That's good enough! -
Jesse Dylan
Philip: Kick ass! Soon you two will be able
to bump your Go-Karts for hours!
EVIL PHIL! Pick one standard in your
html and stick to it. It seems everyday you are a different person with
the subtle differences between your posts and VS's! Bwagh! I am going mad!
Mad I tell you! Read DmgIce Mobile, everybody! Get it on your Palm or PPC!
You don't need the internet on the device, just access to it at home! -
M3wThr33
Philip: You are SO gonna love this Viral Speak.
In fact.. you have my permission to bring Mobile Edition over 100KB just
this once.
OHMYGOD! I've gotta get that Sonic
Adventure 2 game now! .O_O. Meeecha Soniiiiic!!! Must obey!
*cough*
Anyway, have you seen the screenshots for SA2
on Gamecube? They're so pretty...
P.S. Did I mention your invisible text is
showing? - Meowthar
Philip: But.. why are you looking?
I must have missed something. Why
is Foy Flight? - FlamingMoose
Philip: A company called Flight by Foy
does the flying effects in rock concerts, and broadway films.. so therefore..
FOY IS FLIGHT.
Philip, my brother, I have been the proud
owner of a DVD player for much time, and I worship the holy medium like
my child, but since when is it fun to watch a movie dubbed into a foreign
language? Maybe if you're stoned I guess? And how can that be the best
part of DVD, next to better picture, sound, and sexy extra features? Man,
explain yourself or I'm gonna have to assume that you pick Peach in Mario
Party. - Guy who picks Daisy in Mario Party
Philip: Because sometimes the dialogue is
different and I can understand Spanish and German.. just don't ask me to
speak it.
Hi. Responding to my last viral speak
about Square/Nintendo. I can understand why Nintendo doesn't like Square,
but I dont really care about that. Nintendo can hold their grudges against
Square, but they shouldn't let it get in the way of providing quality games.
I mean, one of the main reasons i got a GBA was because of the chance of
getting Final Fantasy games. And i dont care if theyre old, square made
better games then than they did now. And I mean, how can Nintendo not profit
if this happens. GBA sales would certainly increase, and they'd sell a
ton. And, how would you try to make a CD-based handheld anyway??????? really,
with skipping and size all that stuff.... well i really hope somebody's
signing some papers or something....
p.s. maybe nintendo could make some sort of pass
through device, like a gameshark, that had a 3D processor in it... like
a 3dFX card, except you wouldnt' have to put one in each game... oh well
thats not very likely... but it would be nice - ME_
Philip: I think if the next one used Mini-DVDs
and had a cartridge slot that could play older games and save the Mini-Dvd
ROMs games.. umm.. *falls asleep*
Can someone tell the Virii to stop attacking
my immune system please?
I finally found Tecmo Bowl at a video game store.
My game Boy Advance has never been played so much. Eagerly awaiting Tactics
Ogre Handheld.
I gotta go to class now. My Intro to Jazz teaxher
looks like a monkey and acts like a ****!
Bye! - Andy
Philip: Well, I could say mean things about
my teachers.. but.. I would be lying.
Yes, if anyone disliked the new Zelda
for the graphics, I would tell them, "then why don't you go play 'War Gods'
or 'Mortal Kombat Mythologies' or something?"
Well, maybe not. I wouldn't want to make them
cry.
GLORY OF THE PIKMIN - TK421
Philip: Pikmin: ARE THEY NOT MERCIFUL!
Hey Phill what is your opinion on Metroid
Prime? My favorite Metroid games are two and three. Heard about the Zelda
Triforce games cant wait for them. And if you want some real funny things
to do in Metal Gear 2 try hiding in the lockers and look at the gilrly
posters. Then call Otatacon. Also I believe you van find a room with a
scantly clad women nice graphics/ Dragon - Dragon_Night_ac2
Philip: Metroid Prime is going to be FUN!
I believe this to be so. I suppose that is why they call him Solid Snake? |
