Viral Speak 03-02-2001 A bit overdue.. but.. hey!
It's here!
Wow... that was a big earthquake we had
yesterday... At first I thought it was people running through the
school hallway, then it shook harder. My Japanese teacher yelled
"Get down!" and a student yelled "Oh s*$&!" and we all dived under
our desk. It was cool. Luckily, we didn't get much damage except
for a crack in the weight room and a few fallen lights and no one was hurt.
Quite an experience. - Joltz
Philip: But.. you're okay! And alive! Because.. living is a wonderful
way to be. ^_^
Just got back from choir contest, my
school got a "Sweepstakes" trophy, which means we got the best rating possible
in every category... our school has never gotten that rating before,
ever, so we made history tonight. :)
And I picked up two beautiful seniors (HS seniors,
not 65+...), and carried them to the bus with me... :) Life
is good. - Aaron J.
Philip: As long as you didn't drop them.. then you're the man. ;)
Ah, yes, CNN. How I hate thee.
I actually prefer MSNBC or, since we only recently had it added to our
cable lineup (and it's a fuzzy picture, no less), FOX News channel.
Why? Because those anchors over at Fox News laugh a lot. Not
during the tragedy, mind you, but during the regular newscasts they act
like a bunch of friends talking about news over a meal at Taco Bell.
Reporter 1: "So, how 'bout that tax plan Bush
has?"
Reporter 2: "Eh, it's alright. I suppose
it's better than nothing. You tasted these Chalupa things?"
Reporter 1: "No, no I haven't. And Clinton...doesn't
this man ever go away?"
Reporter 2: "Mawhaughahgamaa."
Reporter 1: "What?"
Reporter 2: "I said, holy crap, this Chaco Taco's
good."
Reporter 1: "We'll be right back."
As for Clinton...he did his job. He did
it to the extent that nothing just blew up in our faces. Except for
his own actions. God...just remember, the man's married to Hillary.
Isn't he being punished enough? - Jethro McBiggun
Philip: Forgot the "H" factor... now I feel sorry for the bloke....
February 27 is (was) also the 5-year
anniversary of Pokémon's debut in Japan. Coincidence...? - Axem
Blue
Philip: Hmm.. it's because.. I'm secretly a Bulbasaur. Bulba!
clinton may have had a horrible social
life,but:
1.i am sure there were a lot of presidents that
have done stuff like that and had it never come out into the public.that
doesnt make it right,it just makes him the unlucky one to be caught.
2.even if you didnt like him,you gotta admit he
got a lot accomplished.better than bush senior.a lot better.
im not paricularly fond of bushes.america has
enough shrubbery without unneeded vegetation growing in our political offices.
no offense personally of course,i know your a
bush supporter.i just...dont like them. - titan25
Philip: On point 1.. yeah. If people knew everything John F. Kennedy
did.. they would have shot him themselves. 2. I would have to disagree
on that. I mean, Clinton didn't follow through on things like Iraq. Also,
damn dirty drawdowns in the military. Being a military kid... Clinton hurt
my family more then you know.... But, I'm not fond of Baby Bush's Tax Plan.
I do however think we need more military funding. Specifically in the Space
Program, and in Medicine. We should also cut ties with the UN. That organization
is holding us back.. not helping us grow. Japan has superior technology
for consumers! Why? Because we funded it. Bah! About 60% of American DO
NOT own a computer of their own! Not so in Japan. Technology yearns to
grow in the USA. I mean.. most of the best inventions are offsprings of
our military/space technology. For example.. PLASTIC, Arpanet, Teflon,
Silly Putty, and more! I mean.. Silly Putty! Absolutely brilliant! I don't
want Japan to have walking tanks first... we need to work on ours... I
mean.. we're mapping the Human Genome right now in a lab in Nevada.. but
still... ya know? I want walking tanks, damn it!
Even worse about Clinton, my teacher
is a political junky and had these papers with all these people killed
under the Clinton Administration, like for knowing too much. One guy "committed
suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head" That guy is just NOT
COOL! - Aipom
Philip: That's Vince Foster. White Water Scandal. For those wondering;
that scandal has to do with Bill and Hillary buying some funky, swamp land
then scamming people into buying it, while he was Governer. Then, part
of the money used to buy the land was embezzeled or something. Vince Foster
and a few others knew of it and were going to expose the Clintons. But..
wound up dead. The knave also leaves a trail of "mistresses" everywhere
he goes, actually. His wife does the same thing though. Except -not the
case with Foster- most of hers wind up dead. Shame, Bill doesn't kill his.
I got sick of Lewinsky really quick.
Actually things on the richter scale
are measured a little different than you think. A 1.0 on the richter
scale is one tenth as powerfull as a 2.0. A 3.0 is ten times more
powerful than a 2.0 and so forth. So while the earth quake in India
was only .7 points higher it was in actually much much more powerful. -
Beefy_B the all knowing
Philip: Forget the Richter Scale. I use the Alucard Scale. So..
there!
If you could have only one, which would
you take: GBA with one game of your choice or GameCube with three? - hakarl
Philip: Hmm.. GBA with Zelda or an Advance version of Mythri, Magi
Nation or Pokemon Card.... hmm.. or a NGC with Metroid, Zelda, and Perfect
Dark 2. Hehehe... as much as I love the GBA.. umm.. I'm going for Perfect
Dark 2, Metroid, and Zelda. I don't care that the new Metroid is partially
first person. It's gonna rule anways. And I'm gonna buy it.
Did I tell you I beat Metal Gear without
being seen? Well, I found out what it unlocks...VERY HARD MODE!
Whoohoo! Now you must all perform the same feat so you can complete
the cartridge! Bwa-ha-ha!
ps. go to SNOWFLAKE! - Flaming Moose
Philip: L33T.
Well, there IS a God! I just looked @
Buy the Best, and there was a pic for Tilt n' Tumble! I checked it out,
and Lo and Behold, the game is DEFINATELY GOING TO BE KIRBY!!! It comes
out in April... ^_^
I guess NOA just didn't have the time/talent to
make it PKMn themed...
One question for everyone: Which is the best fighting
game for GB? I can't decide what to get next: SF2, MKII, Toshinden, or
KoF '95. I need your opinion!!! either that, or I turn to GORE for help!
- Super SaiyaMew
Philip: Hmm.. KOF '95 has my vote.
Sneaky and snaky, but not to be outdone,
I hail the mighty DMG ICE for its irreverent island nature. A moment's
drop down proves the suspected: FOY IS EVERYWHERE! and that's not necessarily
a bad thing... Forward you go! - DK 2-24-01
Philip: Hey! Wassup! You the man!
Remember me Phillip?
Watch watch you say on here or who will be faced
with a big fat law suit! This is your only warning! - Pettet
Philip: Actually, I don't remember you. Soo.. Zark off! Oh, it's
ONE "L". The other "L" is missing from the rest of your name "oser".
Philip, what are you playing on your
gameboy right now? - pikamom
Philip: To be honest.. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX. Playing
through it again.
ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US - Boco316
Philip: What you say? Release all "Foy"! For Great Justice!
Well thanks to you Philip, now I am a
Sluggy fan. (www.sluggy.com) It only took me a couple of days (of nothing
but work, sleep and reading) but I finally got through all the archives.
Damn, what a great comic. The best thing? Anytime something weird happens
it actually happens. Unlike comics like Alice! where all the weird stuff
is just fantasy, or like in PvP where the weird stuff is one shot 'look
we're breaking the fourth wall!' type things.
Sluggy Freelance quickly rose to one the top 5
comics I read. (in no particular order, PvP, Megatokyo, Exploitation Now,
Tang's weekly, Sluggy Freelance. Also, I enjoy Kevin and Kell, Thin H line,
RPG world, Adventures!, Life on Forbez, Sinfest, Narbonic and a couple
of others too)
Second best thing about Sluggy Freelance is Oasis.
^^ Worst thing, is Shirt Guy Tom. ^_- (hm.. reminds me of Dom art day at
Megatokyo... hm...)
Oh, and a question for Philip. When people send
you multiple Viral Speaks, how do you decide which one to post/comment
on? - Orochi p_fish (would date Oasis)
Philip: I just post pretty much as much as I feel I can answer.
"She left the car in the driveway,
She left the key in the door.
She left the kid at her momma's,
And the laundry piled up on the floor.
She left the ring on the pillow,
Right where it wouldn't be missed.
She left the note in the kitchen,
Next to the grocery list."
It said, "I'll bet you don't even notice that
I'm gone. All you've done is stare at that clock of yours. Who cares about
this Gameboy Advanced toy? You have a serious addiction and need professional
help."
(apologies to Miss Patty Loveless) - Orochi p_fish
Philip: Hehehe.
I've been violated... the school
rejected my essay on America's Freedom because it was 'Anti-American'.
Didn't that kind of thing end with the Truman era?
----------------------------------
Are We Losing Our Freedom?
Are we losing our freedom? Or did we ever have
it in the first place? Technically, we are free from imperialism (rule
by another country) and dictatorship (rule by a single tyrant). We are
free in the respect that we are not under physical restraint. But when
was the last time we were truly free? Do we not have to schedule our lives
around people of higher rule? Do I have the freedom to decide that my life
is going in a bad direction and leave school to start a business? That
is not a good choice if I want my parent to remain free from a prison.
For true freedom to be obtained, we would need
to be free from the ties of our government that bind us to the ground.
We need the freedom to earn an honest paycheck without giving an entire
fourth of our money to the government. We need the freedom to open a business
on any part of town we want without zoning regulations getting in our way.
America as a country is not free. As the classic-rock band Kansas stated,
"Freedom is just words." A man owed 10 cents to the IRS and did not pay
it, thinking that such a trivial amount was of no concern. He forgot all
about the situation until approximately eight years later when a S.W.A.T.
team van parked in front of his house and armed soldiers jumped out to
claim the ten cents plus interest, which had ballooned into thousands of
dollars in penalties, fines, and interest. Is this a free country?
Do we deserve true freedom? Can we handle true
freedom? We have already lost our freedom by definition. How would these
United States manage to live without being led every step of the way? At
this point in time, we are so used to our government holding our hands
us that we could not live a life without them. If we are out of work, we
turn to them for unemployment checks. If we want our children to be educated,
we put them in a freeof-cost public education facility. However, if we
don't want our children to be educated, we have no other choice. But do
we want another choice? We have been nurtured under Uncle Sam's wing for
so long there is no other way to live. All of our efforts to be free are
in vain. Most of us don't even remember that we took away the Native Americans'
freedom the day we met them. Now they live on reservations without the
basic rights that we have. The liberties that remain diminish every day
of our lives, and all of our efforts to remain free are in vain, unless
the world changes drastically. Freedom is just words. - Aaron J.
Philip: That's UnAmerican for them to censor you like that. That's
not what people wanna hear; but it needs to be said. As long as you don't
start yelling "They will come for you fambly!".. you deserve to be heard.
Hey guys!
I am really itching to get my Fanfic back online,
and since DMG Ice is taking its time. I decided to make my own page where
I'll put up the chapters from now on! It's at http://www.angelfire.com/ma2/toonami/newjourney.html
and right now it has Chapters 1-10 of "A New Journey" as of 2/19. I'll
finish off "A New Journey" by the week's end, then I'll start on "A Brand
New Journey". - Duke
Philip: Sowwy.....
mmmmm, Virtual On: Oratio Tangram...
is awesome, but it has flawed controls. I loved the original in the
arcade so much, that I plan on getting an import of the twin sticks. mmmmmmmm...
twin sticks...
yes, the dreamcast may be dying... however, it
certainly had some of the most awesome games in its limited run.
I still play them, and will likely continue to play on my dreamcast long
after its official death. the only other 'dead' console I do that
with is my SNES, which I would tie with dreamcast as best "non-portable"
video game console, based on the games that were released for them.
yeah, I know this is a game boy site, but I had to vent my frothy madness.
- Allison-Axe
Philip: Dead? Umm.. dead is in the eyes of the beholder. My systems
are STILL very much alive. ;)
i r play starcraft again now.
i r=happy. - jumbo
Philip: Zerg.. YUM.
What's the catch 'em thing? I don't get
it.
Anyways, what's the deal with Yaumauchi or whatever
his name is... I mean, I gotta give him some credit, but I read he said
that they hope to make Pokemon like the Disney franchises, and his plan
for expanding Nintendo is to make 10 Pokemon stores in cities worldwide
that sell very expensive unique merchandise.. and that is his plan for
making Nintendo the King Company again. I don't think they need Pokemon...
they have great in house game-making... their next-gen hardware is easy
to develop games for and quality made... their the only company with major
shares of both the home console and handheld market... if they just concentrated
on making GOOD games and making sure companies make GOOD games for their
consoles they would be fine... which seems to happening on the GBA. But
I haven't heard about many titles for the cube... I KNOW they have to be
good, but a PSX approach wouldn't be too bad here... becuase I know n64's
games are better than Sony's but let's face it their just weren't enough...
I'm glad Nintendo has the GBA becuase I love the big N and I love their
franchises and the GBA is their survival insurance. I probably won't even
buy another console except maybe the dreamcast.... handheld gaming is just
too good. Also, for all those wackos who say every PS2 game sucks,
FIFA 2001 doesn't suck... it just isn't the best game ever... I enjoyed
it... The XBox is gonna be like the Jaguar.. sweet, maybe, but only nutcases
will buy it... they'll never move any good volume on the games, and therefore
it will fail. Cheers to Nintendo for making the GBA 90 and the games
30. They know their business.
Well didn't mean to write a letter, but I've been
reading crap in Newsweek and such about the video game industry and those
people don't know what they're talking about, they don't possess any understanding
at all. My prediction: A tough battle between Cube and PS2 simlar
to Genesis/Super NES, with Nintendo eventually winning if Yamauchi's replacement
is reasonably good/smart/resourceful.
Also, who cares about politics. ALl them dudes
do anyways is talk. Talk is cheap! And so are GBA games like Mario Kart
Advance! *dances* - Johnny One Foot
Philip: My opinion? Microsoft has more of a budget then Sony. Microsoft
will "win the battle" against PS2.. but they'll lose the war, game wise...
to something cube shaped.
Oh, bad news. You know how cool
Alone In The Dark looked in those early screen-shots? Those early
screens were apparently from the intro to the game, and the in game screens
I have seen indicate that the game will be nothing but a top down action
adventure! The graphics in the pictures I've seen are NOT high quality
as in the earlier pics. I guess any hope for a Resident Evil Type
of game for the Gameboy Color has been dashed. Well I guess we can
pray that Capcom chooses to do that game on the GBA... - Cyberxion101
Philip: For shame! You actually believed that! Those are from the
BATTLE sequences. When an enemy appears, it switches to that view. The
rest of the game is in the normal high quality mode.
The Tenchi movies rule! I have
them all on DVD and several of the regular series episodes on tape, and
I have to say that it is one of the best shows I have seen in awhile.
Ryoko is pretty frightening when Tenchi first encounters her. Oh
and did you know that Tenchi Muyo means No Need For Tenchi? Muyo
in Japanese means 'No Need For', or upside down I believe. Its wierd,
but it works. - Cyberxion101
Philip: Hehehe. She may be frightening.. but Ryoko can hijack me
anyday! After all, I'd love to do some swashbuckling with her. hehehe.
I wish there was some law that said that
it was okay to hurt stupid homophobes. I was at school, minding my own
business(whatever that may have been) and this guy came up and told me
I was "fruity" because I had pink hair, and therefore I was gay. So I explaned
to him that when you bathed regularly(he didn't seem familiar on the subject),
that dyed hair tends to fade, and red naturally fades to pink. He just
told me I was gay again and then went to do whatever stupid people do with
their friends.
Bah. I am sick of the public school system.
Bah - Wonk Hero
Philip: That's bad. I mean, seriously.. oh, well.. maybe someday..
there will be a genome pill that removes the STUPID from people?
