12.23.2007 - "What woke me?" - I
pretty much started a new job a bit ago and news has been kind of slow.
A lot of games have been released and only a few new things have been
announced. The PSP is getting a port of the latest PS2 Phantasy Star
Universe game (without online play), and Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
is set to come out in the United States on March 25, 2008. There is
also a new firmware for the PSP that adds internet radio, a new
visualizer (that sucks), and updates a few things in the background.
The biggest stealth update in the new firmware is -in my opinion- the
new animation in the second visualizer. I really think it looks nicer
than before. On the DS side of things, it has been fairly slow too.
Yes, the USA is getting Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles on March 11,
2008 and "The World Ends With You" some time around that time as well.
But that is not really why I updated at all. News is mostly meh and
aside from endless messing around with a list of DVDs. Yeah,
seriously... the single most important reason for me to update ever....
ever has presented itsself.
SHANTAE NEEDS ME TO.
Yeah, go there, input the right things, and click the right things. The
right things are that you would buy the game on the Nintendo DS and the
Sony PSP and that you want it to be 2D.
11.20.2007 - "Like a pudding thing, right?" - Not
much happening in the world of all stuff portable. Okay, that would be
a lie. There are awesome things happening all the time. Well, there was
the announcement that Summon Night 1 & 2 would be ported to the
Nintendo DS as well as ID announcing development of Nintendo DS games
like Quake Arena. Sony put the PSP/PC version of the Play Station Store
up and this means that PSP owners can now buy PS One games for download
and play on their PSP without needing to waste money on a shitty PS3
paper weight. The other big news is that Wolfenstein 3-D will be coming
to the Nintendo DS. There was also more talk about the redesigned
Virtual Pocket redesign for the Nintendo DS. You know, the one that
would have a slightly larger top screen, 512MB of built in flash
memory, with a slightly thinner body due to the removal of the GBA
slot, built in rumble feedback, an SD slot for music/photos/storage,
and the ability to download demos, GB/GBC titles in a Virtual Console
style way going around. That was a horrible sentence and I want you to
know that I will be punished for it. You know, the rumored item that
has been tossed around by people who work for print magazines who
happen to know their cousins brothers second aunt who knows a person
who knows a person that works for Nintendo and can totally be trusted!
The Nintendo DS VP! Hooray. Did anything get updated? Probably, did and
I hid it for the sake of not announcing it until I finish up some of
the half done content on my hard drive. Alrighty! Nintendo DS VP!
BELIEVE! BEEEEEELLLLLIIIIIEEEEEEEVVVVEEEEE!!!!!!
Oh! I find this
to be pretty funny. If someone did this with American political
figures, I would say that George Bush is Diddy Kong, Nancy Pelosi is
Birdo, Dick Cheney is totally King Dedede, and Hillary Clinton is quite
possibly a Wiggler. What's a Wiggler? It's that caterpillar creature
that gets mad when you stomp on it. I figure she's like the head of the
Wiggler and all the segments are Chinese criminals curiously stuck to
her enormous ass. She goes on a rampage if you stomp even lightly on
her; but a good fireball will kill the Wiggler on the spot. Wiggler
acts tough; but any form of heat will kill it dead. Maybe I put too
much thought into that? Whatever. Democrats of the Estados Unidos! Do
us all a favor and make the correct choice for your candidate. Enough about politics anyhow.
11.07.2007 - "A tale passed down bovines" - So,
how are you? I am fine actually. Update? Sure, sure, sure. If you are
still here, let me break down the newsity for you in a proper way.
There are revisions of hardware coming out around the world! Here is a
quick break down of them.
Nintendo DS
- Gold colored
with an etched Triforce. (Phantom Hourglass bundle! Pretty gold with
pretty game. Ah, so nice. If you buy this bundle, there is an obscure
law that demands that you take a picture of yourself holding it above
your head.)
- Pink colored
with an etched paw print. (Nintendog's Best Friends bundle that should
have been white with black spots; but this will sell something evil.)
- Silver with an etched Super Mario 64 DS logo (China ONLY. Personally, I want them to bring the silver DS Lite to the USA.)
Sony PSP
- Yellow and
White (The Simpson's Movie game bundle for Europe ONLY. It has white
buttons, and a white UMD slot to make it an incredibly UGLY system that
you should be shot for owning if you own it. And by shot, I mean burnt
at a stake until extra crispy and then fed to hungry seals.)
- White with
etched "wings" (Star Ocean 1 bundle for Japan. Star Ocean 1 would be an
excellent game to bring to the USA, and I hope Square Enix does just
that.)
- Deep Red (Japan Only for now. Red with clear buttons for the ultimate drinking companion.)
- Spider-Man
Red (Deep Red model with black buttons in a bundle with Spider-Man 3
the game and umd movie. Only for Europe and they can have it.)
That seems to be pretty cool. As far as games go, I find this juego de la mierda to be endlessly amusing and if I see it for barato? "Compraré y colocaré en mis pantalones." "Si, toda su base es pertenece a nosotros."
Glub glub, Babelfish. That said, this week Silent Hill for the PSP and
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker for DS. In short, two games that push both
systems to new heights. In site news, I moved those old news items to
the archives and new graphics will show up later on Wednesday, if not
Thursday. Please check back for it! In anime news, Bandai announced
that they have the license to popular Japanese anime: "Lucky Star."
Lucky Star is a bit like Azumanga Diaoh meets Genshinken. I will be
lobbying for the UCM Anime club to show it next year.
11.01.2007 - "Pardon the dust..."
- I'm working on stuff. The idea is to make the site look better on the
Sony PSP, and the Nintendo DS Opera web browsers. I really don't care
about many other browsers. The buttons will probably change in size in
a few days and there will official updates again as I may soon be able
to have more time to update and a better schedule. Oh, news? What did I
miss? Well, new Kingdom Hearts for both the DS and PSP, the Falcom
series Y's 1 & 2 will be remade for the DS, Phoenix Wright 3,
Phantom Hourglass, Dracula X Chronicles, and Disgaea: Afternoon of
Darkness are out now and you should be playing them. Did I miss
anything? Oh, yeah. Edge magazine said that Nintendo is planning to
make a Virtual Console like download system for the DS in the
fuuuuuttttuure! That would be neat. I wonder where we have heard that
before? It's almost as if it was mentioned somewhere before. I may have
to scour the Library's news archives to find out? Maybe I should. Oh,
the buttons will probably shrink soon too, they are especially awesome
if you have an iPod Touch, or an iPhone and use the zoom options. On
the PSP, they are perfectly sized. I moved Viral Speak and the News
Archives into the Library. The site needs a massive redesign; but we
will get to that later. I think that it would be best to go back to old
school style DMG Ice for a while. This means that you get a focus on
reviews, long articles, and a lot of portable skewed perspective. Yeah!
I think PSP users should go here too. We actually don't kill the PSP's
crappy web browser like sites such as PSP Fan Boy do. I mean seriously,
if you make a site about a device that can surf the web, you should
make it possible for that device to actually get to your site. I think
that would be just a common courtesy. Who should our November cover be?
I am thinking maybe characters from Disgaea. Because Disgaea is awesome.
