02.22 - "Sure we're alive!" - Well, we are still alive and the awesome part is that we do have some news for you! The first bit of news is that a sequel has been announced to Ouendan. Ouendan is the Japanese game that the American release "Elite Beat Agents" is based on. The other piece of hot news is that Panel De Pon is coming to the Nintendo DS. Pael De Po has had many names in the last few years: Tetris Attack, Pokemon Puzzle League, and recently just Puzzle League. The game features ONLINE PLAY, and is played via stylus. Another interesting part is the use of the Nintendo DS sideways mode. Hotel Dusk, Meteos: Disney Edition, and Brain Age are a few of the games that currently use that DS feature. No USA release for the title has been announced; but it is really only a matter of time. I hope they attach it to the Touch Generations label. If you want to check out some more information on how awesome Puzzle League is, check out this old editorial by Adam on the subject. On the PSP side, I think I forgot to mention that Riviera for the PSP will be arriving in the USA, from Atlus. No word on if all the edited content will be restored for the USA version. Considering that it has a dual language option, there may be little chance of that happening though. This would leave the Game Boy Advance version of the game the only unedited version available in the United States. In a way, that comes off as a bit ironic. On a site note, we are actually pretty old now. Scary enough. I guess it means I should update a bit more, right? Well, I will definately try; but it got to a point where I end up getting distracted by the very same stuff I cover. It can be hard to review games when I am way too busy playing and enjoying them than I am reviewing them. That can be a bit of a problem. He he.Philip Andrew Wesley

01.11 - "Promises, Promises." - At least we update more than Nintendorks. (See! I would never forget you guys. Hehe. By the way, Nintendojo is still hiring.) A few things for the peoples! A version of Maple Story was announced for the DS. There is no US release date yet; but this is a great way to attract the Korean market that Nintendo wants so badly. Personally, I hope Maple Story succeeds so well that games like Ragnarok Online find their way over to the system. Maple Story and Ragnarok Online are just made to be on the DS. Good luck to them though, as they will be competing directly with the almighty Dragon Quest IX. Also for the DS: Line Rider was announced, we will see if it gets further than Johnny Rocketfingers. SquareEnix announced that Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book will be released in the USA in April as "Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales." I suspect that this game will be ridiculously pun-filled, just like Rocket Slime. Soon, small children and women everywhere will be rubbing giant chickens. I can only wish that Nintendo would be merciful and release a bright yellow DS Lite. As for the game? You will say Wark.Philip Andrew Wesley
01.03 - "That's almost news." - The Stamper Brothers left Rare. Anyone want to bet that they intend to finance a small game company in the future to work on the development of a Nintendo DS game? Oh! Something special about the cover images! Aside from being for the upcoming Pheonix Wright game: "Justice For All!" Yes, that image is just the right size for something and if you know what it is. Let us know that you know! Reviews will start trickling in on Friday. As for other news out there? Justice for all comes out on the 16th of this month and you better buy it! SquareEnix said that they believe they can sell at least 5 million copies of Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS. Bandai Namco of Japan announced an anime/manga based game for the Nintendo DS. This happens all the time, really. This week the game would be Kekkaishi. Decide to care at your own discretion. I personally got addicted to Death Note, Kannon 2006, and Pumpkin Scissors over Kekkaishi. I highly recommend you care about this next bit of news though. MySpace is letting people have 300 pictures. Naturally, this means that Squishy is gonna max out his picture limit in the next few days. Click HERE to check out the Squishy awesomeness that is up already! There are people from G4, and MegaTokyo in there as well as E3 booth hostesses and cosplayers. Yes. There be chaos there. Later!Philip Andrew Wesley
12.30 - "What we need is a constitutional amendment banning LEAVES." - I just thought I would stop on by and give you this amazing link. That would be the ONLY worthwhile Sonic The Hedgehog animated series complete in one box set on March 27, 2007. Again, here is a quick list of what it features - with translations on if they matter.
  • Way Past Cool: A Conversation With Sonic Writer Ben Hurst - This would be his description of how he went from Tiny Toon Adventures to Sonic. I heard he shoots himself in the face as an apology for Sonic Underground at the end of the conversation.
  • The Fastest Thing Alive: A Conversation With Jaleel White ("Sonic") - After setting Black Republicans back a few decades, he set forth to ruin the world by exponentially increasing the amount of Furry Sega Lemon Fiction.
  • A Printable "Heads Or Tails" Pilot Script - See the next comment for the real answer.
  • Storyboard-to-Screen: "The Doomsday Project" - I say, this mildly amusing extra smacks of Criterion banality!
  • Animated Early Storyboards For The Opening Title Sequence - Mildly amusing extra. The title song is one of the best things ever and demands its own Guitar Hero level. We got TROGDOR in GH2. It would be a crime if this is not in GH3.
  • Deleted & Extended Sequences - If you have seen all the show like I have, this is the most important thing on the DVD.
  • Original Concept Art - See how cool everything was supposed to look. Some of this concept art is also on the Game Cube title Sonic Mega Collection.
  • Packaging Designed Using Sonic Fan Art - This is that Yifftastic cover art of almost everyone looking horrified that Sonic is grabbing Dr. Robotnik's crotch. Princess Sally looks oddly aroused by this. Oh, the nightmare will not cease. These WOUNDS they will not HEAL. Damn you Sega. Insert pretentious, stupid and baselessly popular internet meme. Those Shockbots look to be CHARGING THAH LAZERS!
There is a big rumor going around because Samsung used the PSP to demonstrate the potential of their newest 60GB hard drives in portable game devices. Keep in mind that Kodak demonstrated their cheerily awesome OLED screens in the original Game Boy Advance years ago and that meant nothing whatsoever.Philip Andrew Wesley

12.28 - "So, that's where that flew to!" - Welcome back! After a bit of a hiatus caused by The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, malevolent work schedules, and a mild case of Winter Blues; DMG Ice rises from the ashes or what have you! Well, sort of! I need to change the outside graphic and I am still experimenting with making this site look good on the terrible Opera beta for the Nintendo Wii. This site looks good on crappy browsers like the ones on cell phones and on the Sony PSP; but not on a home console? I remember the Dreamcast having a better browser. Of course, the Nintendo Wii Opera browser is still beta and needs a lot of work still. Eh, it will get fixed. For now, there are a few redesign ideas being tossed around before the official "relaunch" in January. Is anything changing? Well, back to monthly "issues" and back to focusing on reviews a lot more than just news. The last few months have been a bit odd. The realm of politics has gone from bad to retardedly worse. But the realm of video games has been shaken so much I feel that there is nothing left to fight anymore. Part of the reason I started this site was because the Game Boy POCKET got no respect from any of the other sites, or from the internet as a whole. Now, almost ten years later, the Game Boy has evolved so very much. The Pokemon franchise took off, the Game Boy Advance has broken records, the Nintendo DS has flattened handheld perceptions completely. It looks like almost everything I ever wanted to have happen in the portable industry has happened. In February, I will be able to play Final Fantasy VI legitimately on handheld, with ADDED content. The Nintendo DS has pretty much lived up to its Game Boy Nitro roots and caught fire in Japan, sparking an announcement that Dragon Quest IX would be a DS exclusive, online action rpg. A few people got up in arms about a "numbered" game from the series being on a portable system. I think they need to grow up and realize what I have been saying for YEARS about the viability of the handheld market. I think it is for the best if some franchises went strictly handheld in the future.

Sonic the Hedgehog, I am looking directly at you.

Nintendo of Japan recently updated their site for the Nintendo DS Lite game Wish Room (Hotel Dusk) and if you do not buy this game when it comes out over here in early 2007.. there is no hope for you. It comes from CiNG and it is sweet indeed. As for the site? The new year will herald those long, rambling, and detailed articles you know and love more frequently; but not as frequently as reviews. This year will be focused squarely on reviews. Remember Suki Nihon? That will be returning as an anime club of sorts, and I hope to set it up properly so that - just like the UCM Anime Club - it will have meetings on a regular basis without the restriction of being tied to the college. Radio DMG will return as well. Also check out our YouTube thing as it will have original videos with SQUISHY up on it soon for everyone to love. LATER!
