Denver Comic Con Welcomes Comic Book Publishers

DC Comics Joins Action Lab, Avatar Press, BOOM! Studios, Oni Press, Valiant and Zenoscope Entertainment at the 2015 Convention

<>DENVER – May 5, 2015 – Denver Comic Con (DCC), Denver’s largest consumer convention and a program of education nonprofit Pop Culture Classroom (PCC), today announced the exhibiting comic book publishers include Action Lab, Avatar Press, BOOM! Studios, DC Comics, Oni Press, Valiant and Zenoscope Entertainment <>“Denver Comic Con has grown into a full-blown pop-culture convention,” said Tone Ellis de Jesus, marketing communications manager for DCC and vice-chairperson on the PCC board of directors. “But comics are at the beating heart of Pop Culture Classroom. So many of us grew up reading Superman and Batman comic books. We were more than entertained—we learned to read, and learned about societal issues through the metaphors in those compelling stories. <>All of the attending publishers will have a presence on the convention floor, and many are bringing creators to interact with fans and provide insight into the craft during the educational panels.

DC Comics

DC is featuring Dan Jurgens at its booth, as well as a number of other creators. Jurgens and DC Comics will also have extensive involvement in panel programming over the course of the weekend, including “DC Entertainment – All Access” with Amanda Conner, Garth Ennis, Van Jensen, Dan Jurgens and Jimmy Palmiotti; “DC Comics  - Batman” with Becky Cloonan, Amanda Conner, Jeremy Haun, Dan Jurgens and Jimmy Palmiotti; and “DC Entertainment – Master Class: Art History” with Art Baltazar, Becky Cloonan, Jeremy Haun and Dan Jurgens.

Action Lab

<>Action Lab is a publisher of all-ages comic books and community partner of PCC.  The first issue of Action Labs’ award-winning “Princeless” is included in PCC’s “Storytelling Through Comics” curriculum. The PCC curriculum will be available on the PCC website in the days leading up to the con. 

Avatar’s booth will feature writers Max Brooks and Kieren Gillen, and artist Jacen Burrows. BOOM! is bringing illustrators Evan Palmer, Carey Pietsch, Liz Prince, and Ian McGinty. Oni Press will be represented by comic creator Jhnonen Vasquez and Valiant will be represented by artist David Baron. Zenoscope will be exhibiting on the convention floor.

<>Denver Comic Con will be held at the Colorado Convention Center on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25. All convention pass holders are invited to celebrate with DCC during the Opening Ceremonies on the evening of Friday, May 22.
