Denver Comic Con
Unleashes 2013 Guest Announcements
Denver Comic Con rolls into 2013
with a wave of exciting guest
announcements including new TV & film stars, voice animation actors
and comic book legends for their May 31-June 2 event. With a guest list
that reads like the Who’s Who of the comic and sci-fi world, Denver
Comic Con will be showcasing appearances with such luminaries as Stan
Lee, George
Takei, Wil
Wheaton, George
Pérez, and many more. Colorado’s first major pop culture and
comic convention saw a record-breaking opening attendance and is
setting their sights on even bigger and better programming for 2013.
Perhaps the most exciting addition to guest of honor Stan Lee is the addition of Star Trek’s own George Takei, who was voted one of social networking’s most influential people in 2012. With a career spanning five decades, Takei is known around the world for his founding role in the acclaimed television series Star Trek, in which he played Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the Starship Enterprise. Takei starred in three seasons of Star Trek and later reprised his iconic role in six subsequent movies in the franchise. More recently, Takei won over a new generation of fans with his recurring guest role on the NBC-TV sci-fi drama Heroes as Kaito Nakamura, the father of time-traveler Hiro Nakamura. In his nearly 38-year comics career, George Pérez,, has been involved with many of the industry’s landmark publications. With writer Marv Wolfman, Pérez created The New Teen Titans, which ushered DC Comics back into competitive prominence during the 1980s. The team struck gold again when they redefined the entire DC Universe with the hugely successful Crisis on Infinite Earths and its follow-up History of the DC Universe. Pérez had two enormously successful runs, almost two decades apart, on The Avengers and attained great personal success as writer and artist for the 1980s re-launch of Wonder Woman. Other notable guests scheduled to appear at Denver Comic Con 2013 include Star Trek TNG’s Wil Wheaton, The Guild’s Sandeep Parikh and Robin Thorsen, Warehouse 13’s Eddie McClintock and numerous comic book artists from all walks of fame. The 3-day event will feature a number of activities for children of all ages including gaming, arts booths, various comic exhibitors and exhibitions in addition to a wealth of photo opportunities with hundreds of costumed attendees and fans of the event. It’s truly a sight to see and it’s all set to go down this summer at the Colorado Convention Center from May 31 – June 2.
