Team Redline Episode 5 "Deluxe" By Philip Wesley 1999 Background Information Stranger things have happened I suppose. We fight nature and resist it in so many ways; but eventually nature catches up. Ever evolving and changing; Nature finds a way to destroy or defy our greatest efforts to restrain, kill, or control it. Our greatest victories become our greatest mistakes. Our greatest science becomes our most primative notion. Our greatest deeds; our greatest failures. Chapter 1. The water appeared to be calm tonight. A nice healthy yellow glow in the sunset had marked the beginning of a quiet, stormless trip. The VMS Joanna moved at a steady pace across the water. "So, when do you reckon we will arrive at Vermillion?" "I guess sometime tommorrow." The two deck hands were standing near the entrance to the lower cargo area of the ship. "He.. I'm bored. Want to fight Pokémon?" "Aww. Why not. But not up here; remember what happened last time..." "Well, it was YOUR primeape that ran after the Cap's wife." "Hey, but your magnemite was the one that used supersonic on it." "I know.. I got rid of that move. I've been practicing. My magnemite is a hell of a lot better than your lousy primeape." "Bring it on." The two men opened the door to the cargo area. "Let's move a few of these boxes of pokéballs out of the way." They moved a few of the crates to the side and took out their Pokéballs. "Careful with those crates in the corner.. we're transporting some 'government issue' pokémon. That crate with the orange nuclear waste logo is not to be touched. Well, that's what they told me." "I'll bet that there are some really sweet pokémon in there. Maybe a gengar or a kabutops." "Who knows what's in the box. For all I know it could be an inflatable Jynx." "Ha. Yeah, our tax dollars at work." "Forget the crate. I have a new pokémon! I traded that primeape for it." "You traded your primeape for a new pokémon? Probably a frigging magikarp; for all that primeape was worth." "Oh, you'll see." "How do you feel, Matt." "Well, I've felt better.. moving my files and comp junk to the new building has been stressful." "We needed to relocate the Team Redline headquarters anyways. Anything to keep that Nine creature from finding the Kennel." "How did they move the pokéballs anyways?" "oh, we hired a non-descript shipping firm to move them to Vermillion; where we will send them via Broadband to an anomynous FTP that then transports them by cable modem to the new Kennel location." "Oh, that makes a lot of sense.. sort of." "Hell, it's not as bad as the red tape involved in the move." Matt picked up one of the boxes and sighed. "Well, at least I didn't have to put that mew in storage." "When are you going to name the thing? It's been with you longer than most of your girlfriends." "Ha ha. Very funny." Chapter 2. "Check this out! Hitmonlee, go!" The deck hand tossed out his pokéball and in a brilliant flash of red light; a hitmonlee appeared. "It's still not really used to me; but I got a few badges in my travels; so it listens." "Hmmph. It still is going to lose to my magnemite! Go, Elway!" "You named your pokémon Elway?" "Yeah... so." "Now I know you're going to lose." The magnemite was floating a few feet off the ground and the hitmonlee moved it's spring-like feet in to a ready stance. "Magnemite! Thunder!" The Magnemite started to spark and then threw a large bolt of electricity toward the hitmonlee. It hit dead center and knocked the hitmonlee back a little. "Oh, yeah! Hitmonlee! Jump Kick!" The Hitmonlee moved its feet a little and sprang into the air. It missed the magnemite by less than an inch and kept flying on past it. "Damn! It missed!" The hitmonlee flew right into the side and bounced off the wall into a stack of the crates. The crates fell over and banged into another stack of crates; causing several boxes to break open and spill pokéballs on the ground. "Oh, great.. now you've done it." "Hey.. this box piece has some orange paint on it.. you don't think we broke THAT box.. do you...?" "Hell, if I know. Help me pick these up." "Hey.. dig this crazy looking pokéball." "Well, damn... that thing is clear purple." "It's got an M on it... a new prototype?" "Must be. and we thought we that box had a pokémon in it." "I wonder what the capture percentage on this thing is?" "Well, check it.. they usually list the percentage on the inside rim." The deck hand clicked the button and a large flash of purple light filled the room. A sleeping light blue bird appeared. "Umm... what the hell is that." "It seems dormant.. maybe we can stick it back in the pokéball; before it wakes up." Suddenly the boats intercom went off. "We will be approaching Vermillion in 3 hours; night crew 3 report to the main deck 1. Night Crew 2 report to the main deck bay area to clock out, please." The bird started to move a little. "Uh oh.. it's waking up. Use the ball!" The bird opened its eyes and spread its wings. The deck hand through the ball at it and missed! "How could you miss?" "I don't know." "Well, we need to put it in the ball." The bird flew up into the air. "Maybe if we weaken it.. we can stun it enough to get it in a normal pokéball." "Magnemite, thunder!" The magnemite threw thunder at the bird. It hit it and didn't seem to affect it at all. The bird looked at its attacker. It swayed its head from side to side and then a whirlwind started forming around the magnemite. The magnemite was thrown by the whirlwind and into a wall. "Oh, great... it took out the magnemite." "It looks like an articuno.. now that I think of it. Ice types are weak against fighting! Hitmonlee, rolling kick!" The hitmonlee rolled across the floor and went flying foot forward toward the articuno. Then the articuno started swaying its head again and then opened its beak and shot out a purple beam that hit the hitmonlee out of the air. "It knows psybeam!" "Oh, great.. our pokémon are down. The bird looked up at the roof of the cargo area. It swayed its head again and then disappeared. It reappeared on the deck of the ship and then spread its wings to fly away. The deck hands hit the ships alarms as the bird flew off toward the land. Chapter 3. "You lost a pokémon?" "Yes, sir.. it was a bird.. an articuno. It's flying toward Vermillion. It was in that orange crate.. is this a cause for worry?" "Hell, yes. That thing is Biohazard.. an experiment really. It's a walking metronome and conversion. It can change its type and abilites at will. I will contact the local police force and part of Team Redline.. we need to catch that thing before it gets to the populated areas of the city." "What level is that thing?" "Like I said.. it was an experiment.. it's, well... level 103." "That's impossible...." "Don't worry... we'll catch it." The Chief switched off the CB and looked at Matt. "Well, I want you to follow the group I am sending to catch it." "Sir, you're sending the 356 team. They don't NEED me. I'm not part of the Search and Capture Division. Why do I need to be there?" "Once we start the blockade.. it will attract media attention.. and the media attention might attract that Nine creature. You're there just in case Nine shows up. If Nine shows up to try and pick off our teams... you can kill it." Nine leaned back into the alcove he had made for himself in a section of the sewers. "That.. Scyther... it almost killed me." Nine crossed his arms and looked at the piece of broken wing he had tacked up on the wall. "But.. I did level up. If I am going to destroy Team Redline.. I can't be done in by a wild bug pokémon. I need to fight with trainers and trained pokémon to level up even more. I need to fight something more powerful.." "So, what do I do?" "You'll be set up here in the lighthouse overlooking the bay area. Biohazard should arrive around there. I'm giving you a nice little PSG-1 and a few Type 3K Master Balls. They have a 3 K radius and that should be sufficient.. if Biohazard gets to close to the shore." "Hmm. A Gnat and a couple herders. That's nice." "Oh, you have your mew.. don't you?" "Yes, sir. It's on my belt." "Good.. you might need it." Biohazard flew high above the bay area as a helicopter closely followed it. "Here we have a RARE articuno pokémon, this pokémon is usually indigious to sub-zero climates; but this particular pokémon; refered to by the military and 'Team Redline' as 'Biohazard' is said to possess strength and abilities that are light years beyond anything else. This pokémon is considered to be dangerous and at a high level. Supposedly the level is in the Upper 90s! More news on this creature at 9. Team redline has already started a blocka--" *click* Nine unplugged the radio and looked at the bodies of the two poké- center staff laying on the floor. "Stupid humans. I like humans actually.. they bleed a pretty red color; when they die." Nine smirked a bit as he flew out of the pokécenter with the radio. "Biohazard......." Matt waited on the top of the lighthouse with his gun. He let his Mew out of it's pokéball. "So.. little bugger; you ready to see some action?" Matt looked through the gun scope again. "Hmm. I can see it. Wait a second.. something is heading for it. It looks like Nine IS going to crash the party.. but he isn't going for the blockade.. he's going for.. Biohazard!?" Chapter 4. Biohazard turned to face this odd threat. Nine looked at Biohazard; then raised his paws above his head and yelled "BARRIER!" Biohazard looked at Nine for a second, deciding what to do. It then waved its head from side to side and let out a harsh sounding shriek. Nine formed a barrier around himself and Biohazard did the same. "Impressive." Nine shot SWIFT at Biohazard. Biohazard just sat there and took the blow; just staring at Nine. "What the Hell is wrong with you? Fight me!" Nine yelled. Biohazard then waved it's head and disappeared. "Not much of a fighter are you?" Nine taunted. Biohazard than reappeared behind Nine and hit him a HYPER BEAM. It hit Nine in the back and sent him flying towards the land. "Oh, great! Their headed right for us.." Matt said. "Mew, we need to get out of this building..." Nine slammed right into the side of the lighthouse. Nine got up and shook his head. "Damn... I may need to run away." "SCREEEEEEEEEE!" Nine turned around to be greeted by a SKY ATTACK. Biohazard landed on Nine and started to peck at him fiercely. "SWIFT! SWIFT!" Nine yelled as he struggled to fire SWIFT at Biohazard. Matt took aim with the PSG-1 and fired at Nine. Biohazard had grabbed ahold of Nine's arm and started to swing Nine by the arm. Nine grabbed a hold of Biohazard's neck as a bullet flew past his head. "Damn.. the bird and Team Redline... This is a trap!" Biohazard started to glow an eerie green color. "Oh... damn....." Biohazard let out an PSYBEAM and hit Nine out toward the water again. Nine screamed in pain. "My arm......" Nine regained his composure and floated above the water. He looked down at his right arm. "Damn bird! It tore my paw off." Matt followed Nine with the PSG-1's scope. "Hmm... it looks like Biohazard may finish Nine off." Nine held his bleeding arm. Biohazard dropped the paw and flew out toward Nine again. "I'm going to die tonight... aren't I." Nine said as he held his left paw out in front of him. "If I die... I'm going to drag you to Hell with me, bird." Biohazard waved its head as if to agree. Nine looked down and noticed that his feet and tail were starting to freeze. "Oh.... you cheap bastard..... ICE BEAM..." Nine's body became heavier and he began to fall into the ocean. The ice quickly froze him and he fell into the water and dissappeared. "Biohazard did our work for us, Mew." Biohazard started to fly towards the bay again. "If it reaches a civilized area.. it could kill... many, many people." Matt thought to himself. Matt looked through the rifle's scope again. He pulled the guns trigger and hit Biohazard in the wing. Biohazard started to lose altitude quickly. Matt took out one of the Master Balls and threw it at Biohazard. Biohazard tilted it's head to the side as the ball exploded in a beam of purple light. Biohazard disappeared as the Master Ball closed and dropped to the ground. "Gotcha!" Matt yelled. He got out of the lighthouse and walked over to the master ball. He picked up the ball in his hands and slipped it in to his pocket. "Mew.. return." Mew returned to its pokéball and Matt walked toward the group of police and Team Redline members in the blockade. Deluxe Epilogue. The Blockade had left just a few hours ago as a lone boat drifted into the bay carrying two passangers. "So, do you think that Mewtwo is still around here?" "I'm willing to wager on it." The two silent figures slipped on their air tanks and slipped into the water. A few moments later one of the divers surfaced dragging a semi-frozen body up with him. "Well, it got pretty screwed up; but it did fight that Biohazard creature by itsself... it might prove to be of some use to us." "Yes.. such a fearless pokémon could prove of value to Team Rocket."
